Google Translate

We used to use a thick and cumbersome dictionary, wasting precious time and ruining our eyes to look for some incomprehensible word.

After that, all kinds of expensive electronic dictionaries appeared, which not everyone could afford. While they were more comfortable than the dictionary which weighed a good few pounds, they still had many drawbacks.

In the age of computers, a dictionary software called: Babylon was developed, and it still exists and translates text with the click of a mouse. I guess you've all heard of it, but not all of you got to use it, since you have to purchase it to get its full and legal version.

Google has released a beta version of an excellent and free service called: Google Translate, or in Hebrew (for those who do not master English) Google Translation.

So what does this service offer us?

  • Translation in a wide variety of languages. Any language can be translated into another
  • The service offers translation of entire web pages. Although it is not the most accurate, because computers are not yet able to relate and understand the general meaning of the text (so-called: artificial intelligence)
  • The service offers a special plug-in, which any website owner can embed on his website. This is a huge advantage for those who work with clients abroad
